Based in Canterbury, Kent, Fairy Dust Bakery was established in 2011 by Melissa Rayner.
Hello! I’m Melissa and I have always loved baking. I set up Fairy Dust Bakery during a career break when my two daughters were little, wanting to create a better work-life balance for the future. Baking cupcake orders for friends and neighbours, I soon began to supply a number of local coffee shops in town as well as run cupcake decorating classes. Birthday cakes and wedding cakes quickly followed and before long, I had turned my hobby into a well established business.
Fairy Dust Bakery has since featured in several magazines and books. Big highlights include featuring in the Telegraph, the TV show Made in Chelsea, being commissioned to make a cake for TV chef Rosemary Shrager, and having a cake cut by HRH Princess Alexandra and Alan Titchmarsh.
Today, I'm lucky to be able to focus my business on what I really love, designing and creating beautiful, bespoke cakes for weddings and other special occasions.
